Employment
Fischer’s Baslow Hall: 2013-2014
Position: Front of house server/Waitress.
In this position I was trained how to deal with a variety customers and provide a high level of Michelin star customer service which the restaurant prides itself on. I also worked on a range of events here, including weekly food service, weddings, and marketing events. I also learned how to communicate with other members of staff in a fast pace environment.
The Highfield House Farm Shop: 2014-2017
Position: Waitress/Supervisor.
In this position, I have been taught customer service, how to handle money and food service, as well as hygiene practices and staff relationships. In this role, I have communicated with a variety of different customers, making them feel welcome and forming excellent customer relations. I feel in this role I could offer support to other staff if they feel if they had an issue in the workplace acting as a conduit between staff and management. Since returning from university I returned to this role, however I took more of a supervisory position, guiding colleagues, and dealing with any customer issues.
Ashgate Hospice: 2015-2016
Position: Volunteer – Events team.
I took up the opportunity to volunteer at my local hospice on their Events Management team as I have a great passion for this area. While in this position I helped organise fundraising events, as well as collating previous feedback from past events, stating positives and areas for improvement. Here I learnt how to work in an office environment and at outdoor events. I also worked on a stall at this event, handling customer transactions, therefore showing I am trustworthy.
Student Colour Run: 2017
Position: Volunteer – Events team.
The opportunity to volunteer with the local student colour run was offered to my course group at university. I took up this opening in order to gain more experience in the events industry and to meet new people and liaise with the public. In this role, I not only volunteered on the day of the run, helping coordinate and steward the public, but I also took part in promoting the event. This was done through social media channels, handing out flyers and talking to members of the public.
The University of Lincoln: 2017
Position: Volunteer – Student Union Activator
In this role I helped the new students at the university move in and settle into university life. This meant both manual labour on move in days, and giving people initial information about the university, and working throughout the week at help points to give the new students directions and information. I believe this was a key role to take part in as it meant I can not only interact with more people at the university, but put my organisation and communication skills into action as well.
The University of Lincoln: 2017 - Present
Business School Ambassador for the Events Management Department
While at university I have successfully been named as a Business School Ambassador, representing the Events Management Degree programme. This requires working on open days and applicant days for the university. Within this role I have to meet and great a number of different people, relay information about the course and offer my own experiences, while answering any questions they may have. I trust I gained this role through my friendly and personable manner, and the professionalism I have within a role, which the university wishes to portray to potential students. It was a great honour to receive this job and something I am very proud of as I am trusted to represent the university to the public and to be the face of my degree.
Tesco Superstore: 2018
Deli Counter
Within this role I prepared and served the items for the warm deli counter in a large Tesco store, meaning that I had to prepare the full days’ worth of produce at the beginning of my shift. I thoroughly enjoyed the interactivity that came with this role, as it allowed for me to speak to many different people throughout the day, as well as remaining focused as I had to restock the products. This means that I am capable of working logistically to meet supply for peak times, a skill which I believe can be transferred into any job role.
